When is it time to replace siding?

Replace siding when it is cracked, warped, loose or faded across whole walls, or when you find soft spots or moisture behind it. A few damaged panels after a storm can often be repaired, if matching material is available. Older or discontinued siding can be hard to match, which sometimes makes a full wall or full house the cleaner option.

What do soffit, fascia and trim do?

Fascia is the board along the roof edge that your gutters hang on. Soffit is the underside of the overhang, and vented soffit lets fresh air into the attic. Trim covers corners, windows and doors and seals the joints between materials. When any of these rot or crack, water, insects and animals get in.

What are gable vents, and do I need them?

Gable vents are louvered openings high on the end walls of the house that let hot, moist air leave the attic. Whether you need them depends on the rest of your ventilation, since gable, ridge and soffit vents have to work together. We check the whole system before recommending changes, especially if you are also replacing the roof.

Do I need a permit for new siding in NJ?

For one- and two-family homes, usually not. The NJ Uniform Construction Code treats repairing or replacing existing siding on those homes as ordinary maintenance. The exception is polypropylene siding, and other buildings have separate limits.

FAQ

Common questions about siding, soffit & fascia

How much does new siding cost?

It depends on the size of the house, the material, how much old siding comes off and whether sheathing or trim needs repair. We measure on site and give a free, itemized estimate.

How long does a siding job take?

A full house usually takes several days to around a week, depending on size, material and weather. Repairs are often done in a day.

Do I need a permit for new siding in NJ?

For one- and two-family homes, usually not. The NJ Uniform Construction Code treats repairing or replacing existing siding on those homes as ordinary maintenance. Polypropylene siding is the exception, and other building types have separate limits.

Can you match my existing siding for a repair?

Often, but not always. If your siding is discontinued or faded, we show you the closest match and the alternatives.

Do you replace soffit and fascia without new siding?

Yes. Soffit, fascia and trim can be replaced on their own, and are often done with a roof or gutter job since the roof edge is already open.

Will insurance cover storm-damaged siding?

Sudden damage from wind or a fallen limb may be covered, depending on your policy. Photograph the damage and report it to your insurer.

What warranty do you give?

All In Roofing backs its work with a 10-year workmanship warranty. Manufacturer warranties on materials, such as GAF’s shingle warranties, are separate and depend on the product and how it is installed. We explain both in writing with your estimate.

Is financing available for siding?

Yes. Financing is available, along with special pricing for military and veterans, first responders, nurses, teachers and seniors.
